Marie Kondo’s best selling books and Netflix hit Tidying Up have certainly inspired millions of people to declutter their homes. Their loss may just be your gain! So, this summer, head over to these thrift stores near Woodridge. Who knows what wonderful bargains you could find there?
Family Shelter Service Resale Shops
The mission of Metropolitan Family Services is to help victims of domestic violence in the Chicago Metro area and DuPage County. This charity operates two resale shops, one in Naperville and the other in Westmont. The goal is to create an additional source of income to fund the services provided to families.
At the present time, both locations are open Mondays through Saturdays. Donation hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for both locations.
Your donated items are also used to help needy families replenish their homes and wardrobes with gently used items. These resale shops accept (and sell) clothing, jewelry, accessories, household items, and home decor.
Serendipity Resale Shop
The merchandise sold at Serendipity Resale Shop supports Little Friends, an organization that works to empower people with autism and other developmental disabilities. Donate (or shop for) gently used clothes, shoes, accessories, home goods, and collectibles here.
The store is located in Naperville. It’s open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meanwhile, hours on Thursdays and Fridays are between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Finally, Sunday hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Note that these hours are for the period between April 1st and December 31st. The store also has winter hours.
Pennywise Resale Shoppe
St. John’s Episcopal Church of Naperville operates the Pennywise Resale Shoppe. Presently, you’ll find gently used clothes, books, toys, and home decor here. New items come in every week, and there are often brand new products included. Proceeds from the store are generally donated to local, national, and international charities.
Note that items such as large appliances, furniture, cribs, car seats, encyclopedias, computers, and used pillows won’t be accepted for donation. Should you need to donate items like these, you can try the Goodwill store in Woodridge or the Salvation Army store in Darien.
